It's hard to say how much I spent. It seems every time I am out looking,in the stores I happen to buy something. Maybe I am considered a shopaholic not just clothes, now it's fishing gear too..

Easily a couple grand, like all the other posters, line, rods reels and other tackle for various species. Perhaps a Trading section in OSF where we could offer to trade off lures and the likes of things sitting in our Tackle Boxes that we don't much use anymore might be a way of cutting down some costs. One Man's Hula Popper that's never been out of the package, is another man's treasure at his/her favorite fishing hole...

About 40 years ago I put together a plan, everytime I went into a tackle shop, Canadian Tire etc. I always purchased something, from big items, to hooks and sinkers. Since that time, and I have and still do "stick to my plan" I have accumulated 35 Plano 3700 tackle trays, full!  Now I always replace, immediatley, any lure I loose or wear out! Between tackle, rods, reel, and various excessories I have approx. $12,000.00 worth of items. The most expensive item I purchased was a Shimano "Stella" 1000FA Reel,at $700.00 down to a pack sinkers for $1.25 Believe me it accumulates fast and I certainly have it issured on my Homeowners Policy because I darn sure wouldn't wish to go out an shop for it all now!:D

I have this year on tackle and bait alone spent upwards of 2000. Add in the gas and larger purchases and it starts adding up fast. Worth every penny for those great days on the water over the past year.

I found this website that the hooks and lures prices are amazing. Just have a look.

One of my biggest fears is that when I die, my wife will sell my fishing gear for what I told her I paid for it.

I'm easily $400 so far this year - and the season hasn't opened!

I had a fire and lost everything all my fly tying materials that took me 20 years to collect,my vice a renzetti that was a gift, all my rods and tackle and worst of all my pictures.... So I have been spending more to try to replace my stuff, I still don't have a vice. I just built a new float fishing rod, almost $1700 and ordered a centre pin float reel from england $550.
